Ty Myers – Heavy On The Soul

Ty Myers delivers his sophomore album Heavy On The Soul, a 17-track project that sharpens the breakout artist’s identity while expanding the sonic foundation introduced on his debut. Released via RECORDS Nashville/Columbia, the new LP follows The Select, a GOLD-certified debut that established the Texas-born singer-songwriter as a rising force in country music.
Created at the historic FAME Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Heavy On The Soul pulls from a blend of Southern Rock, Soul, and Blues influences that have shaped Myers’ musical roots. The album features 11 songs written entirely by Myers, reinforcing a more personal and deliberate approach to his second full-length release.
“Heavy On The Soul is a very special project to me for many reasons. Many artists feel a notable amount of pressure when working on their sophomore album,” Myers shares. “The true magic of this project came when I shook those feelings and wrote for me and the feelings that I was experiencing in my life. I can only wish that you can relate to my emotion and apply it to yourselves. I hope y’all enjoy.”
The album was produced by Brandon Hood and recorded alongside a group of established session players, including guitarist Tom Bukovac, steel guitarist Bruce Bouton, keyboardist Gordon Mote, drummer Chris McHugh, and bassist Mark Hill. After writing the bulk of the material independently, Myers collaborated closely with Hood in the studio to finalize each track, often capturing performances in just a few takes.
In the lead-up to release, Myers introduced the project through a series of tracks, including “Leaving Carolina,” “Through a Screen,” “Come On Over, Baby,” “Two Trains (feat. Marcus King),” “Message to You,” and “Morning Comes.” Each preview highlighted different facets of the album’s stylistic range, from modern country storytelling to blues-driven arrangements.
Heavy On The Soul arrives as Myers builds on the success of The Select, which featured PLATINUM-certified singles “Ends of the Earth” and “Thought It Was Love,” along with GOLD-certified “Drinkin’ Alone.” The new album marks a continued evolution in both songwriting and production, positioning Myers for his next phase as a recording artist and touring headliner.
