In the aftermath of the devastating tornadoes that tore through Laurel and Pulaski Counties, two of country music’s most beloved voices — Jo Dee Messina and Travis Tritt — are rallying behind the communities hit hardest.
A Free Night of Healing at Renfro Valley
As first reported by LEX18, Jo Dee Messina has partnered with the Renfro Valley Entertainment Center and Kentucky State Police to offer free tickets to her May 30 concert at the New Barn Theatre. These tickets are being distributed to First Responders and storm survivors, giving them a chance to step away from the chaos and find comfort through music and community.
“People have been dealing with a lot,” Messina said. “We just want to give them a night to be together. To let First Responders know they are appreciated and victims know they are not alone. Hopefully this will give everyone involved a chance to come out from under the heaviness that’s been surrounding them since the storms.”
Tickets will be available starting 9:00 AM on May 30 at the Kentucky State Police Post in London, KY, on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Stuff the Truck” Donation Drive
In addition to the concert, Messina is launching a “Stuff the Truck” campaign, collecting essential supplies for those affected. A semi-truck will be stationed at Renfro Valley Entertainment Center and Valley Liquor (2440 Richmond Street, Mt. Vernon, KY) from May 26–31, open 9 AM to 9 PM daily for drop-offs of items like bottled water, baby products, toiletries, food, and cleaning supplies.
Travis Tritt Joins the Effort
Joining the cause is Travis Tritt, who has donated a signed Fender Stratocaster guitar to help raise funds for tornado recovery. The same style guitar he plays on stage, this autographed instrument adds star-powered momentum to the local relief efforts.
Additionally, a portion of proceeds from Tritt’s recent Renfro Valley performance has been allocated to support those impacted by the storms.
Donations During the Show
At Jo Dee Messina’s May 30 concert, Kentucky State Police will be on-site collecting cash donations for the United Way of Laurel County, ensuring that relief efforts continue long after the final encore.
How You Can Help:
