Pigeon Forge, TN – At the age of 78, country music legend Dolly Parton shows no signs of slowing down. Her latest venture, Dolly Parton & Family: Smoky Mountain DNA – Family, Faith & Fables, has been announced, promising both a musical record and a four-part docuseries.

The announcement was made from Dollywood, Parton’s beloved theme park and entertainment destination in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Fans can anticipate the opportunity to pre-order the project starting June 21, with the unveiling of the first two tracks and the complete track list simultaneously. Scheduled for full release on November 15th, the project will be available in multiple formats, including vinyl, CD, digital download, and streaming platforms. This diverse range of options ensures accessibility for fans worldwide, catering to various preferences in music consumption.

Reflecting on her journey, Dolly Parton remarked, “I cannot believe that it has been 60 years this month since I graduated from Sevier County High School and moved to Nashville to pursue my dreams. My Uncle Bill Owens was by my side for many years helping me develop my music. I owe so much to him and all the family members past and present who have inspired me along this journey. I am honored to spotlight our families’ musical legacy that is my Smoky Mountain DNA.”

Parton’s upcoming project, Smoky Mountain DNA, will explore the rich legacy of her father’s Parton family and her mother’s Owens family. The project traces their origins from the United Kingdom in the 1600s to their present-day home in the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. This release aims to reveal the treasured heritage preserved in the music and vibrant culture of Appalachia, offering audiences an in-depth look at the familial and cultural influences that have shaped Dolly Parton’s life and career.

The album, produced by Dolly’s cousin Richie Owens, features performances from various members of Dolly’s immediate and extended family, spanning generations. Some tracks will include the voices of late family members, alongside contemporary contributions, celebrating their family’s musical legacy.

The accompanying docuseries will provide an intimate look at her family’s historical journey from the UK to present-day East Tennessee. Featuring interviews with numerous family members, the series will particularly highlight the influence of Reverend Jake Owens, Dolly’s grandfather. Reverend Owens instilled a profound respect for faith, music, storytelling, and strong family values in his descendants, shaping the legacy that continues to inspire Parton’s work today.

Smoky Mountain DNA promises to be both a musical and visual journey through the lineage of the Parton and Owens families, shedding light on the cultural traditions that have deeply influenced Dolly Parton’s life and career.
